More about "We're Here to Listen"

As part of NSHA Board of Director’s commitment to being open and connected to the people we serve, we are asking you to join us to share your experiences and thoughts about health and health care.

The NSHA Board of Directors understands that its discussions and decisions affect communities directly, and should be informed by people in communities all over Nova Scotia.

That is why we are creating opportunities to listen to citizens speak about what is working well and what challenges we continue to face in our journey to become a healthier province.

The NSHA Board of Directors is hosting ‘We’re Here to Listen’ so we can hear directly from people on some of the most important health topics in our communities. The NSHA Board meets in different communities around Nova Scotia throughout the year, and on these occasions the Board will host a 'We're Here to Listen" session. Details on upcoming sessions, registration and locations can be found in the column on the right-hand side of this page.

What will happen at these events?

We will identify the top issues in the community related to health care and wellness in advance of the session.

These top issues will provide a focus for the discussion for the evening. The NSHA Board Chair will kick off the evening with welcoming remarks.

At conversation circles set up around the room -- one for each issue -- NSHA Board members will host an open discussion for about an hour.

Participants can choose to stay with one topic for the whole time or move around the room if they wish to contribute to more than one discussion. At the end of the discussion time, highlights of the discussion on each topic will be summarised for the entire room to hear.

After the event, participants will be able to see notes from the event on this site.
