Thank you to everyone who shared an idea about how to improve healthcare in Nova Scotia

Premier Tim Houston asked Nova Scotia’s health care workers to Speak Up for Health Care during a week-long provincial tour from September 20-23, and here online until October 1. The Premier and members of the new health care leadership team traveled thousands of kilometres, visited 24 sites between Yarmouth and Neil’s Harbour, and hosted round-table discussions in Sydney, Truro, Bridgewater and Halifax. Hundreds shared their stories and ideas during the week.

There were 2,400 ideas and comments shared online between September 20 to October 1. In total there were 14,600 visitors to the online site, and over 10,000 engaged by making a comment, downloading content, or sharing their ideas.

All the feedback is being reviewed, and over the coming weeks and months Premier Houston has pledged that his government will take action to improve access to health care. To demonstrate this, commitments to expand VirtualCareNS (Providers Speak Up For Health Care, Patients – Op-Ed - Government of Nova Scotia, Canada) and patient transfer services (Patient Transfer Services Expanded to Improve Access to Care - Government of Nova Scotia, Canada) have already been announced. These were two prominent themes during the Speak Up for Health Care tour.

On behalf of the Premier and health care leadership team, thank you very much for sharing your experiences and ideas.
