Thank you for joining the Cancer Patient Family Network (CPFN).

The CPFN is a program of Nova Scotia Health Cancer Care Program that connects cancer patients, survivors, family members, and friends with opportunities to improve the cancer system.

As a member of the CPFN, you will have opportunities to participate in focus groups and committees, complete surveys, and review patient education resources. You will also remain informed about how patient feedback was used to improve the cancer system.

We appreciate you participating and partnering with us to improve Nova Scotia's cancer system for all patients and families.


About your information: The NSH Cancer Care Program does not share CPFN members' contact information with other organizations without your consent.

Your decision to join or not join will not harm your relationship with your physician or any health care provider. If you join the CPFN, participation in cancer system improvement work is voluntary.

  • Opportunity to Join a Committee to Help Us Improve the Cancer Care Program Website Deadline August 23

    We’re working on a new website and we need your help.

    We are looking for 2-3 Patient Family Advisors to join our Steering Committee that will be working on a project to improve the Cancer care program website.

    Your experience and knowledge as a former cancer patient/survivor or family member can help us make the Cancer Care Program’s website more patient focused and a trusted source of all cancer related information for Nova Scotians.

    Do you:

    • have personal experience or interest in the cancer system?

    • use websites to find cancer related information?

    • have an interest in working with a group of health professionals and patients?

    • have the time to attend a one-hour meeting every two weeks during business hours?

    Deadline to apply is August 23, 2021.

    Please note:

    • Those interested in joining will need to complete a short application and participate in a phone or video interview.

    • Successful applicants must also agree to attend a Volunteer General Orientation in their region, sign a confidentiality statement with Nova Scotia Health and complete a Criminal Records Check.

    • Current Nova Scotia Health employees, Community Health Board volunteers and elected officials are not eligible for consideration.

    Welcome to the updated Cancer Patient Family Network.

    Since 2001, we have been engaging patients and families in cancer system improvement initiatives. With this enhanced engagement platform, we hope to improve your experience learning about opportunities to give back to Nova Scotia's cancer system and understanding how and where we have used patient feedback to improve the cancer system in Nova Scotia.
