Your

Voice Matters

For residents of Inverness and Victoria Counties

we invite you to take our survey and share what you think are the issues or conditions that prevent you, your family, and your community from living healthy.

Community Health Boards (CHBs) want to better understand community priorities, as well as to identify the supports people and communities need to improve their health. Since we are in a new planning cycle, we are kick starting with the launch of our short survey.

A hard copy of this survey is available at many locations such as hospitals, municipal offices, libraries, and pharmacies throughout your local community. We will post the locations as we confirm them.

If you wish to complete the full survey, you can download the two documents: 2018 Survey and the Take Away documents in the Document Library. You can return surveys by mail, by email at easternCHBs@nshealth.ca. Or look for a drop off box at one of the many locations in your community.

We are offering both paper and online surveys to reach as many people and communities as possible. The information gathered from this survey will direct the CHB to support local health promotion initiatives and partner with local groups to improve the health of our communities.

Our process:

  • Step One: Survey residents to gather information from various communities in the region.
  • Step Two: Identify priority areas/themes from the information gathered from the survey.
  • Start consultations: Consult with groups to create recommendations for improving local community health.

The Community Health Boards will keep you informed of how your contributions influenced the report and recommendations that will be made. At this time we have a general process developed as we are continuing our planning for the engagement process.

Why Community Health Planning?

The CHBs across Nova Scotia are legislated to consult with their communities and develop a community health plan throughout a three year planning cycle. With your voice, we can improve health and create healthy, thriving, welcoming communities in the future.

What are Community Health Boards?

Community Health Boards are made up of volunteers from your local communities. They advise NSHA on local perspectives, trends, issues and priorities. Community Health Boards have key roles and responsibilities that include:

  • consult with communities to identify health needs and priorities
  • participate in local health promotion initiatives through partnerships with groups
  • work with community to identify improvements for the health of the community
