Community Health Planning begins in Cape Breton Regional Municipality

Your Voice Matters in Community Health Planning

Every three years, Community Health Boards (CHBs) consult their community for community health planning. Once completed, this plan will be used by the CHBs to inform their action plans and funding decisions. Community Health plans help to identify priorities for the Nova Scotia Health authority and IWK Health Centre.

By filling out this survey, you will help CHBs ensure that our Community Health Plan reflects what people in CBRM see as important for their health and wellness and that of their communities. Survey is for residents of Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Survey closes on June 8th.

The following consultation sessions are being offered:

  • May 25, 1 p.m. Eskasoni -Eskasoni Elder Centre, 46 Spencer Lane
  • May 25, 6 p.m. Louisbourg -Fortress Seniors Club, 11 Mitchell Street
  • May 28, 6 p.m. New Waterford -New Waterford Seniors & Pensioners Club, 3390 Plummer Avenue
  • May 29, 1 p.m. Membertou -Mawio’miokuom Society Building, 113 Membertou Street, Unit 1 A

For more information please contact Debbie Martell by email at:debbie.martell@nshealth.ca or by phone at: 902-794-8942.

Our process:

Step One: To survey residents to gather information from various communities in the region.

Step Two: To host meetings with groups as part of our consultation process.

Step Three: To identify priority areas/themes from the information gathered from the survey and meetings.

As we move along in our process, the Community Health Boards will keep you informed of upcoming consultations. After identifying priority and theme areas, the chbs will build an action plan which also guides spending for our community grants. From your input, we will also determine recommendations for the new community health plan. Thank you for participating in our survey and consultations to develop our new community health plan.
