The Nova Scotia and federal governments announced $18 million in funding to expand mental health and grief services in Cumberland, Colchester and Hants counties. The Mass Casualty Commission recommended immediate action on the public health crisis affecting Cumberland, Colchester and Hants counties as a result of the tragic events in April 2020. The funding will address both immediate and long-term support by expanding mental health and grief services. Nova Scotia Health's mobile health and wellness team will start providing outreach and support in the affected counties in May, and Nova Scotia Health will begin community engagement to design and deliver programs and services to meet their unique needs long-term.

Four community sessions were held in May in the three affected counties. We are moving to the next phase of community engagement and are hosting six events in June for community groups and community-based organizations.
